I could not be more excited to say that I'm going SKIING tomorrow evening with the outdoor program (OP) at my school!  It's the first (and probably last) trip for the season, so it will be great to get out on the snow and fit in some runs!

It's time to pull out my ski gear, bundle up (although in Virginia it's not actually that cold...), and take on the snow!  Last year when I went on a trip with the OP I forgot that I was in VA and I totally melted the entire ski trip, this year I'll be shedding a few baselayers and hoping for the best!  (And yes, those are the skis I and polka dots!  And yes my boots and helmet are pink, too...)

Have you ever been skiing before?

My aunt gave me an iTunes giftcard for Christmas, so I wanted to get a new album!  I have a 5.5-7 hour drive between home and school, so I always like to make a new playlist for the drive!  I listened to a lot of tracks in the top singles part of iTunes, and I ultimately decided to purchase The Lumineers album.  Needless to say, I am not disappointed.  I have been listening to this nonstop and it was a great addition to my iPod for the drive back to school!

Review: Hair Straightener

I wasn't planning on talking about this at all.  Over the Christmas holiday, I noticed that my flat iron was taking longer to heat up, longer to tame my mane, and just dying.  I started to do some research to decide what kind of straightener I would get next.  Danielle from miss GLAM dan recommended the BaByliss Pro Nano Titanium Flat Iron.  I was hesitant at first because it is pretty pricey.  I had a CHI that I received for Christmas either four or five years back and I was debating just buying another.  But after talking to C from The Kennedys Amongst The Kardashians, who also recommended a BaByliss, I knew I should just take the plunge and order it.

Bye bye, pink CHI.  Hello BaByliss!

In true five-year old fashion, the moment the package arrived on my doorstep, I took the straightener right up to my bathroom and straightened my hair.  Needless to say, I was amazed with my new flat iron!

Excuse the lack of makeup!
It only took SEVEN minutes to tame that mane!  I can't believe how well it worked!  My hair also appears to be sleeker and smoother now!  I am majorly impressed!

I was so happy with my new straightener that I knew I had to share the product with you!  I do understand that it is a big investment, and depending on your hair type, you may be able to get away with a flat iron that isn't so heavy duty, but with my super thick curly hair, I need something that works this well!

disclaimer: I was not paid or reimbursed in any way for the review of this product.  I purchased the BaByliss Pro Nano Titanium 1 inch Flat Iron with my own money.  All opinions are genuine and my own.

Skin Care Routine

Before I started, I wanted to make a disclaimer.  In this post I will mention two products that are available only by prescription.  Obviously because I'm not a doctor and not everyone has the same skin, I cannot recommend a specific prescription.  However, I can recommend that you visit your doctor or dermatologist if you think you could benefit from prescriptions to help with your skin.  I have oily/acne prone skin and I refused to go the dermatologist for many years (mostly because my dermatologist is my best friend's dad and I thought that was totally embarrassing.)  However, this past summer I did go to the doctors and he worked with me to find a combination of prescription strength creams that would help with the type of acne I have.

I've used almost every drug store facial soap and acne treatment that CVS sells.  My bathroom used to be littered with 3-4 soaps and scrubs in the shower and tubes of acne gels and "miracle" treatments.

Ole Henriksen Truth Revealed Super Creme / Prescription Aczone / Ole Henriksen Truth Serum /
Ole Henriksen On The Go Cleanser

Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation / Clarisonic Mia2 /
Ole Henriksen African Red Tea Foaming Cleanser / Prescription Differin
I know that the Clarisonic is a big investment, but it has truly helped my skin.  I use it ever 1-2 days with a non exfoliating foaming face wash.  My skin feel so clean afterwards and I can see my pores shrinking.

Ole Henriksen Walnut Complexion Scrub / Ole Henriksen Grease Relief Tonic / Fresh Soy Face Cream
Lastly, I want to stress that everyone has different skin types.  Just because something worked for me, does not mean it will work for you.  I encourage you to try different brands and types of products.  I used to think that everything had to be marked acne or oil free for my skin.  Luckily, I had mentioned my skin type to Danielle and she suggested that I try the Ole Henriksen products.  I could not be more thankful.  They are not, by all means, miracle workers, but they have greatly improved my skin.  In addition to my acne clearing up, I've received compliments that my skin looks brighter!

Hey y'all!

I don't have anything exciting to write about today, sorry!  But I thought I would go ahead and recap my week so y'all could know a little bit about what's going on in my life.  I love when people write "life" posts, so I really want to let y'all learn about me!

Because classes started this week, I've been running around like crazy.  I've had my MWF classes twice and my TR classes once and I've already got BUNDLES of work to do.  Ironically enough, the two classes that I'm most nervous about (Physical Geography and Accounting) are the classes that I have the most work in.  I have a lot of reading to do for Art History, but that's normal for the professor (I had her last year for an intro Art History course.)

Despite the fact that I've only been back at school for three days, I'll be spending all weekend reading, working, unpacking, organizing, and HOPEFULLY resting...but we'll see about that last one.

How was your week?  Did you do anything exciting?

Snail Mail

After reading BHB's post about her new stationery and making my 20 in 2013 goal to send at least one piece of snail mail each week, I knew I needed all y'alls help!  I need people to send that mail to!

If you're a notecard hoarder like me or you just want a surprise in your mail box....

I'd love to send you a note here and my stash of notecards is getting a little out of hand.

Leave a comment or send me an email if you want to participate!

Spring Semester To Do:

Today marks the first day of classes for the last semester of my sophomore year.  I'll admit, I am not looking forward to my classes this semester.  I'm taking a science with a lab, a math, an art history course, and two Spanish courses.  I am not an math or science girl, so I know I'm going to be spending a lot more time in the library this semester.  I know I made my 20 in 2013 post that outlines some goals for the year, but I also wanted to make a short list of goals for this semester.

1. Work out 3x per week as a way to relieve stress and take a break from studying.
2. Stay organized all semester by filing papers, keeping my notes together, and keeping my desk clutter-free.
3. Use the weekends to get ahead on readings/papers.
4. No computer/iPad/phone before my work is done.
5. Don't make myself crazy by making multiple to do lists.

Do you have any suggestions on how I can make this the least stressful semester possible?

Back to School

Well it's the 22nd...that means that right now I'm currently driving back to school!  Spring semester starts tomorrow!

I'm so lucky to go to school on such a beautiful campus!

My textbooks are ordered.  My planner is starting to fill up.  My work schedule is ironed out (problems with having two campus jobs...)

Tomorrow I have Art of the Early Americas, Physical Geography, Latin American Cultures, and work in the President's Office.  It's going to be a long and tiring day, but I'll report back to y'all and let you know how my classes go!

What classes are y'all taking this semester?

Accent Nail

I have to admit, I'm not the most fashionable.  I don't keep up on current trends.  I couldn't even try to tell you what kinds of clothes are popular right now.  But one trend that I have been keeping up with is in the nail polish world.  Now, I should probably thank Hannah and Danielle, because without them I would still be in the dark.  And that trend is...

an accent nail!

Butter London British Racing Green with Sephora by OPI The Golden Age
Essie Tea and Crumpets with China Glaze Pizzazz
Color Club By Design with OPI Goldeneye
As much as I love glitter, I wouldn't want to paint all ten of my nails in glitter...mostly because it's a pain in the behind to get off.  But two nails?  That's perfect!  It's just enough glitter to spice of my manicure, but at the end of the week it doesn't take an hour to take off my polish.

Pay It Forward

The other day I saw a post about this on Lindsey's blog and then sLe posted about it again today and I knew it was something that I wanted to do!  The original post is from & So She Did It.

The details: The first 5 people to comment with their email and blog address, will receive from me, sometime in this calendar year, a gift - perhaps a book, a baked good, jewelry, music - a surprise in the mail!  There will likely be no warning, and it will happen when the mood strikes me.
The catch: Those five people must make the same offer on their Blog.

Ready, set, go!

Sunday Inspiration

Do you need prayers?  Good thoughts?  Inspiration?  If there is any type of praying I can do for you, leave a comment or email me.  I would be more than happy to pray for you.

Go For The Gold

I'm not much of a gold jewelry person.  If given the option, I generally choose silver over gold.  However recently, I've been loving a lot of gold pieces!  When BestPerJewelry sent me a gold monogrammed necklace, I was worried that I wouldn't wear it often.  Oh boy was I wrong!  I wear that  necklace nearly every day!

Go For the Gold

I can't wait to pick up a few more gold jewelry pieces.  I've got my eye on that gold bow bangle from Kate Spade!  How precious would that be in my stack?

Campus Book Rentals

Forgot to pick up a few books for this semester?  Haven't gone back to school yet?  Neglected purchasing a book because it was too expensive?  I recommend that y'all check out Campus Book Rentals!

I generally buy the books for classes in my major, but for my gen ed requirements...I'm always conflicted!  I don't want to spend tons of money on a hardback Physical Geography textbook that I'll never use again!  That's where renting textbooks comes in handy!

Here are some of the benefits of Campus Book Rentals:

Think of what you could buy with the $85 you saved!  I don't know about you...but I'd rather rent my Financial Accounting book and pick up a new purse or a few pieces of jewelry!

If you have any more questions, just check out this link and see for yourself if Campus Books Rentals will work for you!

I'm off to order my Financial Accounting book!

Zoya Remove+ Nail polish Remover

I'm not one to spend a lot of money on nail polish remover...I usually buy the big bottle at Target for like $3.  However, I had mentioned to my aunt that I was having a lot of trouble getting darker polishes and glitter off of my nails.  She had heard a lot about this remover and she was so generous to purchase a bottle for me!  It takes off the darker colors so much more easily!  It is still a bit of a struggle to get off glitter polishes, but I'm okay with that!  I also think it has a slight lavender scent...but maybe that's just because my bathroom has a lavender wallflower.
