Dorm 101: School Bag

There are basically two options for school bags - totes or backpacks.

school bag
Longchamp Le Pliage / North Face Borealis / LL Bean Boat Tote / Patagonia Backpack

I alternate between a tote (either a large Longchamp or a Vineyard Vines tote) and a backpack (North Face Borealis) depending on my class schedule. For instance, on MWF I have my intro to Psych class.  For this class I have a huge, heavy textbook, so I will be using my backpack.  But on TR, I only have Intro to Arts Management and we don't have any textbooks.  I will only need my laptop/iPad, notebook, and a folder, so I will probably use a tote bag.

What bag you choose is up to you, but it's important to pick something durable, functional, classic.  Although it may seem tempting to pick up the latest, cutest bag for a cheap price, I think it's better to invest in a good backpack or tote bag.  Although you might put out more money this year, you will be able to use that same bag for your entire college career.  So in the long run, you're actually saving money!

Are you a tote bag or backpack kind of girl?

  1. I'm the same way you are: I use my Longchamp on days where I don't carry many books or when I'm particularly dressed up, and I use my backpack when I have many books to carry.
