Splurge or Save: Ponte Pants

I am a huge fan of the J. Crew Minnie and J. Crew Factory Winnie Pants.  They're perfect to throw on with practically any top or sweater, and they are SO comfortable.  They only downside is the price.  If you can catch them on a good sale, they're manageable.  Otherwise, the price doesn't agree with my college budget.

In comes ponte pants.  I looked at a lot of different stores (Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Talbots, etc.) to see what kinds of ponte pants they offered.  I found Joe Fresh's pair from JC Penney for only $29.  I decided to order a pair and hope for the best.
$29 vs $89.50

I just got them in the mail today, and I'm already in love!  The fabric is a bit thicker than J. Crews and instead of having a side zip, Joe Fresh's have a front zipper and back pockets!  And now I have $60 saved to put in that back pocket!

I ordered the navy and black, but I might have to go back for the grey or hunter green!

Would you save or splurge?

  1. Perfect! I was looking for a cheaper alternative to some J. Crew styles. Thanks, girl ;)

  2. There's a very large chance that I'm going to order a pair. How do they fit - pretty much on point with what size you normally are, or would I need to order a size larger/smaller than normal?

  3. Ooh, the hunter green sound perfect!! These pants sound perfect and are so affordable! Thanks for sharing your find!! : )

  4. I need to try those out. I love ponte pants. I ordered a pair from Old Navy but was disappointed in them because they were beyond skin tight and had no zipper so they just felt like glorified leggings. I'll be returning them when I'm back in the States next month.

  5. I've been looking for a nice alternative! I was able to catch a pair of Winnie's on super sale for $20 but they're coral and not quite the most wearable. I've been thinking about investing in black but I might try these from JCP!
