Brewer's Lantern End of Summer Sale

Remember back in June when I posted about one of my favorite t-shirt brands, Brewer's Lantern?

This cute tank is on sale for $15!

Well I'm back again with some exciting news!  They are currently in the midst of their end of summer sale.  There are some great bargains, and some even cuter designs to choose from!

Brewer's Lantern uses comfort color tees, which I think are the most comfortable shirts around!  Pair them with jeans and a patagonia, or a pair of running shorts, and you're on the way to one of the most comfortable library study outfits.

Disclaimer: I was compensated by Brewer's Lantern in return for this promotional post.  All opinions are my own, and I only agree to promotional posts if I fully support the product and would buy it with my own money.

Glory Glory!

(sorry in advance for the photo overload!)

One of my favorite things at Sweet Briar is the traditions.  You name it, we've got a tradition for it.  During each semester, we have something called step singing.  The seniors don their robes and tap club hats and sit on the senior steps while the underclasswomen gather around.  Each class year writes songs to the other class years.  Spring step singing is fun, but fall step singing is every more exciting for me because that's the night that my tap club, the Chung Mungs, "tap" their new babies.

If any of y'all are new, tap clubs are Sweet Briar's equivalent of sororities.  One main difference is that the potential moments do not participate in any kind of recruitment, instead the current members choose new members.  It's not a mutual selection process.

I cannot even explain how excited I was to "tap" my baby.  Kate is one of my closest friends, and I am so excited to have her in the family!

The Chung Mungs are coming to get you!

Welcome to the Ghostly 13, babies!

Our babies chalk campus with our names and our symbol, hoping to cover more ground space than our rival club, Tau Phi.

I'm sure I'll be back with more Chung Mung photos as the week goes on, but I'm just so excited for all of the little ones to join our sisterhood!

Fall Playlist

It's a known fact that my favorite genre of music is country.  But when fall rolls around and the temperatures get cooler, I'm even more into country.  There's something about those boot-stomping tunes that just goes so well with tailgating, bonfires, and cowboy boots.

So throw on your boots and some flannel, and turn up your favorite country songs.  Here's a sampling of my current favorite playlist..

How I Do It: Mornings

Last week, Dorothy posted about a day in her life, and it inspired me to create a new series about my routines and "how I do it" (hence the name of the series!)  Maybe I'm just nosey, but I find these kinds of posts really interesting!

Even though I don't start class at the same time every day, I try to wake up at the same time every day.  Not only does this help my body to become used to a routine, it makes the actual getting out of bed much easier.  Even though we're only three weeks into the semester, my body is already waking up around 7:40 without an alarm clock.  Of course there are some days when I have to wake up a bit earlier if I have an early morning meeting or need to finish up some last minute work, but with my current course load and commitment schedule, I've found 7:40 to be a pretty good base wake up time.

I try to prepare for the morning the night before by putting my books out on my desk or right into my backpack, picking out an outfit or two, and making sure that all of my electronics are plugged in to charge.  This alleviates a lot of the stress and time-consuming activities in the morning so that I can wake up a bit later and quickly get ready for my day.

What do you do in your  morning routine to keep your mornings peaceful?

J. Crew Factory Top Ten For Fall

If I had to pick one store to shop at exclusively, I would probably pick J. Crew Factory.  It's the perfect mix of classic and trendy (or as trendy as I can go..) pieces while still being reasonably affordable.  Additionally, I love J. Crew because they have the perfect neutral staple pieces to pair with louder pieces (like Lilly shorts or scarves).

To say that J. Crew Factory is on point for this fall would be an understatement...in fact, it's making me want to completely redo my closet and fall wardrobe.  Although that's obviously not going to happen, I do hope to catch a few good sales and swap out a few things from my closet for a few of these J. Crew beauties!

Top Ten for Fall

My go to fall outfit consists of either dark wash skinny jeans or navy/black ponte pants.  I've always gone for the J. Crew minnie/winnie pants in the past, but I'm interested in trying their Pixie pants.  They look so comfortable, and when I'm running from class to work to meetings, comfort is key.

On days when I feel like wearing a skirt, J. Crew's "city mini" paper bag skirts are perfect.  I wore the navy linen version way too many times over the summer, so it only seems rational that I need to add the navy wool version to my closet.  I purchased the black and tartan wool versions last year, and they were definitely on repeat all season.

Button downs (especially patterned or gingham), slightly oversized sweaters, and vests are also essentials in my fall wardrobe.  The weather at my school is kind of unpredictable.  We can have super chilly mornings, but by mid day you can get away with just a button down.  Layering is key, in this case, because you can just remove the extra layers as the day goes on.

Oh, and that buffalo check excursion vest?  Literally dying over here.

What are some of your favorite pieces for fall?

Links I'm Loving

Happy Friday, y'all!  What a week!  I am so looking forward to the weekend for two reasons.  One, for the first tailgate and home football game of the year at Hampden-Sydney and two, for time to rest and recharge.

Here's just a few things I found interesting this week....

Cooler Days Ahead

Well I wasn't really expecting to post about fall yet...but we've had temperatures in the 60s the past few days (at least in the morning) and that's got me thinking about cooler temperatures.

I definitely ready for sweaters, boots, warm socks, and my Barbour.  Although I definitely don't need to buy any new clothes, and especially not a new sweater, I am seriously lusting over this J. Crew Factory elbow patch sweater.  I must have at least five potential outfits already planned out...it's just that versatile.

Throw on a jacket for an easy look or layer a button down underneath or something a little fancier.  Especially chilly?  Add a scarf!  The great thing about the sweater being such a neutral color (although I'm also loving the sky blue color it comes in...) is that you can essentially pair it with anything and it will still look great.

I can assure you that outfits like these will be on rotation this fall..and when winter rolls around the only difference will be the amount of layering I do!

Long time no talk!

Long time no talk!  It's been almost three weeks since my last blog post...oops!  It has been an insane three weeks, to say the least.  In that amount of time I... assisted with first year orientation, had my last first day of fall semester, had an extremely difficult week of crazy events on campus, and even a spontaneous weekend road trip home with my friend Katharine.

Instead of boring you with the tales of the past three weeks...here's a recap from my instagram! (By the way, my instagram is rebecca_mill...even when I'm not blogging, I'm posting on insta!)

Um hello, gorgeous.  Sweet Briar's campus is definitely beautiful!  The view on the left is what I see when I look out the window over my desk.  The view on the right is overlooking campus from monument hill.

I'm finally happy with my bed!  The bedding I used last year was ruined in storage over the summer, so my mom and I were challenged to find something new in a town with six colleges during freshman move in.  Needless to say, it was a bit of a challenge!  Luckily my bed is really high off the ground, so we went with a full size quilt and it just hangs down further than a twin size would have!  Perfect, because it covers my under-the-bed storage.  My bed still didn't feel home-y, so when I went home over the weekend, I brought back a down duvet for the end of my bed.  It really ties in the colors of my room, and keeps me warm because my dorm building seems to stay on the extremely chilly side of things!  (If you can't find me, I'm probably under the duvet...oops!)

This cute little corgi is my big's pup!  Her name is Lilly and she is the absolute cutest!  My big lives on campus and is working for the college, which means that I have access to Lilly essentially whenever I need a little canine therapy!  I dog sat the first weekend of school while my big was away, and it cemented my need for a pup post grad.

A couple #ootds...
One last wear of my white jeans for the season, and a first day outfit matching my Whitney English Day Designer

And a little studying because...well...that's why I'm here!

Just a few pics from my spontaneous trip home.
My little Alice was so happy to have me home...especially Saturday night when she gave me not even a foot of space in my bed while she took up the rest of the space!

What have y'all been up to lately?
