December Favorites

It's hard to believe that December (and 2014, for that matter) are coming to a close.  I'll save the sentimental musings for another post.  December was quite the month, between returning to school from Thanksgiving Break, wrapping up the fall semester of my senior year, and coming home for Christmas break, I was all over the place.

Because of the chaos, I embraced routine to keep me sane.  With that (and the start of exams), I always seem to fall into a rut when it comes to outfits.  However, this year, I also embraced this rut with a sort of uniform.  I would be remiss if I did not mention a few of the pieces that made it into my winter uniform.

Needless to say, Bean Boots and cozy camp socks are the perfect combination for those chilly days when you don't really want to think about your outfit.  Also, I feel slightly obligated to wear my Bean Boots since there are 100,000 people still waiting for theirs that are backordered and I have two pairs.  With a fun plaid flannel and a pair of jeans (or leggings if I was really desperate), exam season was painless (and comfortable!)  To add some interest to my slightly boring outfits, an arm party was a necessity.  Alex + Ani bracelets won this round because they're easy to wear and fun to layer.  I received the NYC Subway Token bracelet and an Alex + Ani giftcard  for Christmas... can't wait to add a few more bracelets to my collection!

With the winter weather, my skin and lips have been insanely dry.  I've had to switch to a new moisturizer, the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream, and at night I've started using Vaseline Lip Therapy to keep my cracking lips at bay.  Both products are reasonably priced and do the job.

What have you been loving this month?

Where I've Been + Where I'm Going

Long time, no talk, friends!  The past few weeks have been such a whirlwind!  First I had exams and all of the papers that go along with finishing the semester.  When I got home for break, I promptly got sick and was down for the count for about a week...even missing my bestfriend's Christmas party!  Then it was Christmas Eve and Day...a couple days full of family fun time.  Everyone comes to our house for dinner, so the house was full of people!  Then, I went into three continuous days of best friend time.  Diana lives in New York City, and she was back in Lancaster for the Holidays, so I was glad to be able to spend time with her.  In fact, it was great because one day we drove out to visit another one of our friends from high school who moved to New Jersey.

The plan is to schedule up some blog posts for the next two weeks this week, so I can enjoy my trip to Denver next week.  I'll be visiting Bess of Belles in Bows at her new house in Denver!  Some of you don't know that Bess and I went to boarding school together, and we've been friends since the very beginning.  I'm sure I'll have some fun pictures to share when I get home, but you can always check out my instagram (@rebecca_mill) to see what I'm up to when I'm not updating my blog!

Are there any blog posts you want to see?

Tips to Get Through Final Exams

I never heard from the first winner for the Chloe + Isabel Statement Necklace, so congratulations to Kaitlyn from Keepin Up With Kaitlyn!  Please email me within the next 24 hours to "claim" your prize!

I'm still amazed that this semester is almost over.  It just felt like each week went by so quickly and the next thing I know...the semester is over!  With that, brings a lot of time getting myself organized, long study sessions in the library, and hopefully lots of meals with friends before we part for our month-long break.

I've put together some of my tips to get through the next few weeks, and hopefully they'll help you maintain a bit of sanity!

Take the time to organize before starting.
I know it seems like taking fifteen, or even twenty minutes, before studying to make a to do list and get yourself organized would be counterproductive, I feel like the exact opposite is true.  If I don't take time to "brain dump", I can't focus on my work because I'm continually thinking about what needs to be done next.  I have a routine of cleaning my room and desk, making a to do list, and getting a snack and drink before I begin studying.

Find "your" study spot.
By this point in the semester, hopefully you've already found the spot where you study the best.  But if you haven't, now is the perfect time.  I like a quiet place, with very few people, and a lot of natural light.

Stock up on study snacks.
Before coming back to school after Thanksgiving, I stocked up on some of my favorite snacks....sweet potato chips and baked cheese crunchies from Trader Joes.  When I go to the library to study, I'll put a little bit in a baggie, and then when I get hungry while studying, I can just get my snack out!

Take a break!
Studying for hours on end is really unhealthy.  Whether it be a 10 minute break for a walk around the library, or a few hours to share a meal with friends, it's definitely necessary!

Don't forget to take time for yourself!
Even in the midst of exams, it's important to take care of yourself.  If you're a regular gym-goer, don't sacrifice your daily workout for study time.  Additionally, please do not forgo personal hygiene during exams!  I've seen far too many girls with unbrushed hair (and probably teeth, too...) during exam week.  Surely you can sacrifice fifteen minutes for a quick shower between study sessions!

Happy studying!

Giveaway Winner + What's Up

Congratulations to Patti LeBlanc for winning the Chloe + Isabel statement necklace.  Please email me with your contact information in the next 24 hours (by 11AM EST on 12/13/14) to claim your prize.  If I do not hear from you in 24 hours, the prize will go to the next winner.

Thank you for everyone who entered, and I hope you'll consider Chloe + Isabel's GEM program in the future, if you're a college student!

In other news, the next two weeks are going to include a lot of studying, paper writing, presentations, and all of those fun things that come along with the end of the semester.

I'm still not really sure if this is good or not, but by the last day of classes, next Friday, I'll be done with everything for all of my classes, except one.  I don't have any sit down exams, and during exam week I'll only have my Spanish Translation portfolio to finish up.  That means the last two weeks of classes are going to be complete insanity, but I think it will pay off when I'm at home relaxing while all of my classmates are still at school taking exams, ha!

Off to continue studying!
