Room Tour

After posting sneak peeks of my room redo on instagram here and here, several people have asked for pictures.  There's a bit of a back story...when we moved into this house nine years ago, we didn't paint my room because it still looked fine and it matched with my bedding/decor at the time.  Fast forward through high school and college....the green sponge painted walls and butterfly bedding just weren't really doing it for me anymore.  I'll be living at home for the foreseeable future since my job (more on this in another post!) is close to home, so it was time for some fresh paint, bedding, and decor.

Most of the decor items (lamps, trays, etc.) are from Home Goods, and the others (valances, monogrammed pillow, and placemats on my dresser and bookshelf) were made by my mom!  The duvet cover/shams are from L.L. Bean and the blue accent wall is Sherwin Williams "Icelandic Blue."

National Wear Your Lilly Day 2015

I wouldn't say National Wear Your Lilly Day is my favorite day of the year...but it certainly ranks in the top five.  I love any excuse to wear my brightest and boldest patterns...although I usually don't even need an excuse!

The beauty about Lilly Pulitzer shorts is that you can pair them with the most simple shirt (a solid colored tee or polo) and the shorts do the talking.  You don't have to fuss over creating an outfit or styling the shorts.  That's the kind of carefree fashion I love in the summer!

Flying Fox Vineyard: Afton, Virginia

It seems like months ago when Katharine and I went on our little wine tour of Central Virginia. was almost a month ago!  I would be doing a disservice to Virginia wine if I didn't tell y'all about our last stop of the day.  I've passed the tasting room for Flying Fox Vineyard at least six times a year since starting at Sweet Briar and never thought to stop, but I am so glad Katharine and I were lured by the cute logo and stemless wineglasses that were included in the tasting fee!

The best part about the Flying Fox tasting room was the atmosphere.  The tasting took place in a small cottage towards the front of the property, and it just felt like you were stepping into your own living room!  Plus, the woman conducting the tasting was really great about explaining the different wines to Katharine and I and really helping us to understand what we do and do not like!

The best part?  Well besides the wine, of course...was the french food truck outside!  The tasting room is on the property of Le Bleu Ridge B&B and the owners of the B&B operate Le Chic Picnic outside of the B&B.  The food was fresh and healthy, and just what we needed after a long day of wine tasting!

It's safe to say that I'm already missing Virginia...
